Overall, as it can be seen, both immigration and emigration rate saw an upward trend and the figure for the latter likely to significantly higher over the period shown.

In 1999 the number of people immigrating into the UK was more than 450 thousand, while there was only under 300 thousand people emigrating from that country. In the next seven years, immigration and emigration proportion surged to the highest points approximately 600 and 300 thousand people respectively.2 years later observed a slight decline on immigrant numbers in comparison with a considerable drop before peaking over 110thousand people in 2008.

As a result the net migration figure also experience an increase pattern during the first six years. After that, the finger for migrants peaked 250 thousand in the middle of the period shown which was followed by a moderate fall.
