The maps show a beachfront in Australia in 1950 and today.
The maps illustrate how a beachfront in Australia changed over a 70 - year period from 1950 to today.
Overall, it is clear that a beachfront in Australia has witnessed significant transformations, with the most noticeable changes being the addition of facilities and many changes in the infrastructure of the area since 1950.
In 1950, the access road only went as far as the car park located next to the pavilion. However, today the access road was expanded all the way around to the lighthouse next to the beach. Moreover, another car park has been erected, replacing the old children’s playground area.
The two swimming pools situated beside the beach still remain today; however, the pool located on the western side of the beachfront has been converted into a 50m pool. In addition, a restaurant and surf club have also been constructed nearby the 50m pool. The 25m pool next to the lighthouse remains unchanged, and another surf club has also been built next to the lighthouse.
