the maps show changes in a city in 1950 and now
The maps illustrate how a city has changed since 1950.
Overall, the city has changed considerably with the introduction of two large lakes and the relocation of a business area. The other important developments are that the housing buildings are expanded and more major roads are accessible for residents.
Looking at the maps in more detail, we can see that the addition of two lakes in the middle of the city divided the business district into two areas. Besides, the government building has been rebuilt into two new locations, located south of the two lakes and in the south of the map, respectively. After these developments, there has been the construction of a bridge, a dam to the east, and a river to the west of the lake.
Besides, the residential areas have been expanded significantly to meet the rapid growth in the population, which has risen tenfold, from 20.000 people to 200.000 people. To be more specific, there used to be an accommodation area surrounding the business one, but since 1950 it has been extended to the four sides of this city. There are also more roads linking the main facilities to support citizens' commutes. Finally, the airport in the southeast has been reconstructed into a bigger one.
