The maps illustrate the alterations in the lakeside from 2000 to 2009. At first glance, it is evident that the most noticeable changes occurred for the size of woodland in between 2000 and 2009.
To begin with the north of the river, the existence of old town, derelict warehouses, arts’ centre, residential area which was in the south of arts’ centre and school had been replaced by new offices, new car park, multi-screen cinema, shopping centre and new schools respectively between 2000 and 2009. In contrast, the presences of residential area, which located in the west of derelict warehouses in 2000, remained unchanged over the whole period.
In accordance with the other changes, over the following 9 years, the building’s size of industrial complex had been extended, run to the south part of the lakeside and decreased the woodland area and replaced the position of southern residential area in 2000. Moreover, there was a dramatic drop for the volume of the lake water in which it became smaller in 2009.
