The pie charts below show units of electricity production by fuel source in Australia and France in 1980 and 2000.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The charts compare the amount of electricity produced by two countries using five different sources in the years 1980 and 2000.
It is clear that both countries saw increase in the total electricity generation over the 20-year period. Also, coal was the primary source of electricity in Australia between 1980 and 2000.
In 1980, 50 units of production derived from coal in Australia, which was double the number of generation in France. 2000 saw an increase in electricity production from coal in Australia, reaching 130 units, while the equivalent figure in France remained relatively stable. Besides, Nearly 20% of total units were from the power of Hydro in both years in Australia, whereas Hydro Power only provided a negligible amount of electricity in France.
Nuclear power in France had become the primary source of electricity, rising from 15 units to 126 units of the total amount. By contrast, Australians didn't use nuclear power to generate electricity over the same period. Also, the figure of natural gas fell in both countries, by 18 units in Australia and by 23 units in France.
