The table below gives information on consumer spending on different items in five different countries in 2002.
The table reveals the expenditure on various products in five different countries in the year 2002. Overall, spending on the category of Food/Drink/Tobacco was by far the highest while that on Leisure/Education was the lowest over the time surveyed.
Regarding Food/Drink/Tobacco, it can be seen that there was a significant difference between the rate of money spent on Turkey and Sweden. To be exact, the figure for Turkey doubled that for Sweden, 32.14% as opposed to 15.77%, taking the first position among all countries. The three remaining countries followed with lower values, 29.91% for Ireland’s, 18.8% for Spain’s and 16.36% for Italy’s expenditure.
By contrast, the lowest spending can be seen in the category of Leisure/Education. In details, the Turkey’s figure was over twice the Spain’s one, 4.35% in comparison with 1.98%. Additionally, Italian, Swedish and Irish spent negligible values on this item, making up just under 3.2% each on average.
In terms of Clothing/Footwear, Italy possessed the highest expenditure, being more 4.6% than the lowest one, Sweden, 9% compared with 5.4%. The figure for Ireland, Spain and Turkey was nearly identical, accounting for 6.43%, 6.51% and 6.63% respectively.
