Looking at the details,the number of people who travel via Heathrow started at 27,2 million in the first year,and then the figure rose significantly,to reach the highest point of 48,2 mln in 2000.Despite falling considerably in 2002,the trend finished at 45,6 mln in the last year.
As regards Gatwick airport,the figure showed a considerable growth from 36,5 mln to 51,1 mln between 1998 and 2002.After that,there was a sharp increase to 69,3 mln in 2003,the figure being the peak number of passengers during the whole period.The number of passengers at Stansted was in a similar trend.The number began at the lowest point of 17,3 mln in 1998,after which the trend experienced a remarkable rise to 43,3 mln in 2001,before remaining stable at 43,3 mln in the last two years
