The table compares forested land in millions of hectares in six continents in the world during a period of 15 years.
It is clear that the area of forest in Europe was always the most in anytime between 1990 and 2005. It is also worth noticing that in general there were increases in forested land in Europe and Asia, there were however opposite trends in Africa, South America, North America, and Oceania.
According to the table, during the period Oceania was the continent having the least amount of green areas while the forest area in Europe came top of the list, having 197 and 1001 million hectares forest, respectively in 2005. Following Europe, in 1990 Africa and North America placed at second and third place, 749 million hectares for the former and 708 million hectares for the latter. While Asia only had only 576,000,000 hectares, less than 200,000,000 ha than Africa.
In 2005, both Asia and Europe experience a rise in forest area, rise by 10,000,00 ha on both continents. Regarding Oceania and North America, there was minimal decreases in both continents, by 2,000,000 ha. The forest area in South America and Africa fell dramatically, 70,000,000 and 60,000,000 ha respectively.
