The table gives the statistics about the number of people in New Zealand from 2011 to 2012 by age group.
Overall, the population of New Zealand rose slowly between 2011 and 2012, the number of people from 15 to 39 was the highest in two years. Besides, while the population of groups of people under 15 and 15- 39 followed a downward trend, the opposite was true for the group of 40- 64 and above 65.
It is substantial that the population of people from 15-19 ranked first with 1547102 people in 2012, after falling slightly by 0,2 percent in a year. With 1577256 people, they were also the largest group in 2011. Turning to the 40-64 group, the figure for it escalated by 0,6%, with the start from 1332907 in 2011 to 1339898 in 2012.
Regarding the group under 15, they showed the same pattern with the largest group when decreasing by 0,2%. The smallest group, people above 65, rocketed the most sharply by 4,0 percent from 573946 to 596903. Moreover, the population of New Zealand went up by 29015 people.
