The chart gives information about the proportion of investment in infrastructure and transport in four nations, including Italy, Portugal, the UK, and the USA between 1990 and 2005.
As can be seen, it is apparent that the four countries underwent a downward trend in the percentage of investment in upgrading public transport and roads. In addition, Portugal spent the largest budget on infrastructure throughout the examined period.
Looking at the chart, Portugal took the lead in improving the quality of roads and transport, accounting for roughly 27% in 1990. This ratio was almost twice times as great as the percentage of the USA. In the following year, there was a sharp decrease in the proportion of Portugal by merely one-in-ten, and then continued to decline to around 15% in 2005. Making up a fifth, Italy was successfully becoming the second country to invest a huge amount of money in infrastructure in 1990. One year later, it witnessed a significant slum approximately one point five percent until 200 before rising again at the end of the period.
Turning to the USA, in 1990, the proportion of spending on roads and transport was pretty modest approximately 15%, and then experienced a slight fluctuation before recording pretty the same portion in the first year. Regarding the UK, making up over 10%, this nation showed the smallest investment to reinforce public transport and infrastructure systems. After rising a tiny portion in 2000, the ratio underwent a noticeable upheaval, plummeting to merely half and finally reaching around 7% in 2005.
