The graph below shows the average number of UK commuters traveling each day by car, bus, or train between 1970 and 2030. Write a report for a university, lecturer describing the information shown below.

The pictorial diagram illustrates the UK commuters’ traveling choices over the years 1970 to 2021, as well as the prediction of this trend until 2030. As depicted, the commuters’ choice is divided into three main alternatives, namely, car, bus, and train.

One of the eye-catching features of the graph is the jobholders, who utilize their private cars to commute between home and office, which was approximately 5.2 million in 1970 and is predicted to touch around 9 million in 2030. The aforementioned trend has fluctuated between the years 2000 and 2020, which had experienced a bounce back in the year 2000, however, the trend is totally upward and could keep its first place among all trends as the first choice to citizens’ daily trip, over the 60 years. Moreover, train commuters trend experience an analogous trend, as the car had. Although the train trend is almost cover 50% less population, comparing to those of car trend covers. In addition, between the years 2000 to 2010 the number of trains’ commuters was constant, while that of the car trend has plummeted.

Another interesting feature is related to the bus, which has a contradictory trend, comparing to the two others reported trends. As can be seen, in 1970 there were at least 4 million people who traveled by bus, however, the trend was obviously downward and will mark less than 3 million in 2030.
