Time off work
Dear Mr Johnson,
I am writing to request for a study leave in order to prepare for my forthcoming M.Sc examinations.
As you know, I am currently studying Business Administration as a second-degree qualification at the University of Lagos. The final examination will take place on the 16th of September, and as a result, I will need some time off work to prepare - effective August 15th.
In order to fully prepare and write all papers, it will take about 1 month. During this period, I will not only write the examination, but also finalize my project work, as it is due for completion. Therefore, the requested 30-day leave is crucial to the success of both the examination and the project.
However, I am fully aware of the lapses that would occur due to my absence at work, and as a precaution, I will begin to work extra hours - 7 a.m. to 6 p.m - instead of the traditional 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily. My Accounting department team members will, in addition, voluntarily, perform some of my duties while I am away.
I will appreciate if you consider this request, for it will positively affect my outcome.
