You borrowed some books from your college library. Unfortunately, you have to go to visit a sick relative and cannot return the books on time.write a letter to the library.
Explain what has happened
Tell them what you want to do about it.
Ask if late charges can be waived off.
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to keep you informed about my urgent visit to Massourie due to an unfortunate accident that my cousin has met with. Also, the due date of returning the book I borrowed is tomorrow.
Last Monday, I had to urgently leave for Massourie as my cousin met with an accident. He is currently undergoing treatment in the City hospital and needs extensive care and attention. Therefore, I need to stay with him for a week or two.
Because of this uncertainty, I will not be able to return the books I borrowed from the Library tomorrow causing an additional penalty as the late fees. However, I will make sure to submit them as soon as I return to college.
I would request you to kindly waive off the late submission penalty from my borrowings and allow an extension to the same.
Yours Sincerely,
ABC
