You have seen an advertisement in an English newspaper for a job working in the City Museum shop during the holidays. You have decided to apply for the job.

Write a letter to the director of the Museum. In your letter:

– introduce yourself
– explain what experience and special skills you have
– explain why you are interested in the job

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Jerry William, and I am studying “History” at a local university to pursue my Master’s degree. I have seen an advertisement very recently in a local English newspaper, asking for a suitable candidate to work in the City Museum shop during the holidays, and I would like to apply for the job.

In the past, I have worked as a Customer Service Associate for a couple of parks where I successfully managed to serve the needs of many park visitors. I have also worked as a Cashier at a very busy local restaurant as a high school student. As for my skills, I can communicate in Spanish and German language, and I have great computer skills.

I am interested in this job because the museum has some historical artefacts from the 15th century which I am studying in my history class. Besides, I have been to this museum many times before, and I know a great deal about it already. So, doing a job there will be really easy for me.

I hope you will consider my application for the post and invite me to a formal interview to further discuss my candidacy.

Yours faithfully,

Peter Jennings
