Your local college is organizing an event on the International Student’s Day. You want to speak to students about your country from different cultures. write a letter to the college head.- Tell him/her about the topics you are going to talk about.- Why
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter with regard to the oratorical competition to be held on the International Student's Day celebration in our college. I would like to extend my participation in this competition.
The reasons behind my interest in participating are, firstly, the topic been given is "Diversity of cultures across the world". Since I am from India, which is a land of diverse cultures, its possible for me to offer a lot of information on a wide range cultures. In addition, the audience could understand how people with multiple culture and tradition can survive together, by giving due reverence to each other so that they can enhance their tolerance towards all sects of people.
I would like to touch on the following areas in my speech. Primarily, the "Unity in Diversity", which is the pillar of the country's survival. Although the citizens follow various religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity etc, they unite together as Indians and work for its development. Further more, the multiple festivals celebrated in our country is a major topic to be discussed because it is not celebrated only by the specific group of people but by the entire nation. Finally, the multi lingual aspect, where the citizens group themselves based on their language and take great pride in the literature and poems existing in their language.
Hence I request you to grant me permission to take part in this competition and allow me to explain the great cultural heritage of my country. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully
Dheepa
