Some people believe that studying at university or college is the best route to a successful career, while others believe that it is better to get a job straight after school.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
The question of whether pursuing higher education at a university or college is the optimal path to a successful career, compared to entering the workforce immediately after finishing school, has been the subject of much debate. This essay will explore both perspectives and the author will hereby provide his opinion on the matter.
On the one hand, some argue that getting a job straight after school is a more advantageous path to a successful career. Firstly, practical experience gained through employment provides individuals with real-world skills that are highly valued by employers. By entering the workforce earlier, individuals can begin earning income, achieving financial independence, and developing a strong work ethic. Moreover, certain fields prioritize hands-on experience over formal degrees. Vocational or trade careers often offer attractive prospects for individuals who prefer practical learning and quick entry into the job market.
Notwithstanding the fact that starting to work straight after school is attractive for several reasons, I believe that it would be better for students to continue to go to further education. The first and the most obvious reason must be mentioned is that higher education equips individuals with a comprehensive knowledge base and specialized skills, enhancing their overall competence. Universities offer diverse courses that allow students to explore various subjects and discover their passions, thereby fostering personal and intellectual growth. Additionally, critical thinking abilities developed through higher education enable individuals to analyze complex issues and find innovative solutions. The author believes that such skills are highly valued by employers in today's competitive job market. An analysis conducted from HNUE clearly pointed out that 74.3% of the surveyed companies do require bachelor or master degree in order to achieve a better position in their corporation.
In conclusion, the author is far more on the same side with advancing to further education because of the comprehensive knowledge and skills that students acquired during their academic path.
