Ethanol fuel
The author mentions three disadvantages of using ethanol as fuel. Conversely, the professor criticizes it, maintaining it is a good alternative to gasoline. They expand on their ideas by bringing three main reasons.
First of all, the reading asserts that ethanol acts like gasoline and emits a great deal of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. On the other hand, he challenges this idea with an opposing viewpoint which posits that ethanol doesn't release carbon dioxide into atmosphere same as gasoline. Because it is made of plant and its growing process varies from process of ethanol; It removes carbon dioxide from atmosphere.
Second, the author alleges that production of ethanol would lead to reducing the amount of plants available for humans. But the professor has reservation about this idea and he declares that according to cellulose, main component of plant that animals don't eat these substitutes, it assuredly leads to fostering the amount of food not reducing.
Moreover, the reading contends that due to decreasing producers of gasoline the price of ethanol would increase. This idea is at odds with his idea. He argues that ethanol fuel is certainly able to compete with gasoline on price. By doing so, the price of ethanol would be cheaper than ever before. Producing a large amount of ethanol, the price of ethanol may drop down. The more ethanol available to people, the less price they have to pay. As studies have shown the price would drop by 40 percent. Not to mention, it does more good than harm.
