Professor show on the television

The author and the lecturer talk about university professors' programs on the television show. In the passage, the author states the advantages of teachers on TV channels. While The lecturer in the listening passage opposes the author and mentions the disadvantage.

Firstly, The Author states that when professors do shows on a broadcasting channel, their reputation increase in their academic field. Further, the passage includes an example to support the statement that If a university professor, releases an article then it will only be known among the scholar, but when a professor appears on the television and then published a paper, the idea will be known to many people. But, The lecturer opposes it by saying that such kind of behavior will not be considered by other fellow professors of the university. They consider that publicity is for entertainment purposes.

Secondly, The lecturer mentions another disadvantage by stating that the involvement of professors in the shows will only make the professors busy. Professor will not be able to give time for the preparation of speeches, presentation and has to go for travel.

Further, When the passage state that when professors' shows will be broadcast then it will help the audience to learn deep about the topic. But, the lecturer refutes this by stating that Television show does not broadcast serious topic. They have discussions either on the background of the current affair or movies related to history. Lastly, she states that this kind of show can be done by, even the reporters, for this professor will not have a huge impact.
