First of all, the passage argues that official news posted online are not without flaws. In fact, infromation from online or social media resources can be false due to the accessibility for any adjustments by anyone who wants. This would damage the critical thinking skills of the audiences. In contrast, the lecturer contends this idea by suggesting that print newspapers also contain these advertisements. In fact, there is as much advertising content and commerical contents in print information as in digital sources. Thus, the passage's point is impractical as well.
Lastly, the passage indicates that the use of techniques that involve the sensory information of the audiences may be potentially deleterious. The reason is that this cuts down their attention spans. Ergo, the journalists have to make the articles online or on social media shorter in length and in the same time simplify the content to make the readers easier to engage and stay focused. On the other hand, the lecturer stands against this view by saying that the writers of the online information can find ways to make news or information for attractive. For example, they can put out engaging videos or start using interative strategies to make the readers easier to concentrate. In fact, the writers have the ability to look for ways to engage the readers.
