Both reading and lecturer discuss the possible theory of the Voynich manuscript originality, which a bookseller obtained a fabulous illustrated handwritten book on vellum dated back to fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. However, the lecturer casts doubt on all reasons provided by the reading and explains his own point to reject those points in the following.

Firstly, the reading claims that a complicated mysterious code has been gathered in the manuscript in order to write scientific or magical subject. In turn, the professor declines this point by stating that Anthony Ascham was an ordinary physician and scientist and there is no need to make secret codes on the manuscript. To illustrate it, he alleges to the herbal illustrated in the context which were renowned source for medical purposes. Therefore, the hypothesis of secret code would be entirely refuted.

Secondly, another theory is pointed out the doubtful authenticity of the content; because it has been suggested that Edward Kelley created it so as to make money from affluent people. In contrast, the lecturer refutes this point as he asserts that there is no need to make a complex manuscript to fraud when people were naive enough to be tricked. Besides, he states that there is a much time to work on this writing and it would not be worth to spend much time.

Last but not least, the reading contends that Voynich has made a modern fake manuscript as an antique book dealer, who had a knack for the knowledge of old manuscript. However, the lecturer challenges this claim by stating that used ink on the papers returns to 400 years before he gained the manuscript. As such, it can be questioned how it would be possible to use pages which belong to era before Voynich's timeline.
