The reading claims that building with window glass is very dangerous for birds and present three solutions to avoid crash of birds to buildings. However, the lecturer finds all ideas which have been mentioned by reading dubious and provides some evidences to refute them all.
At the first place, the author argues that one-way glass can protect from this accident . These glasses can help birds that understand from a solid hamper and glasses. In contrast, the lecturer brings up the idea that one-way glass works like mirror and reflects all of things. It can reflect the sky, trees etc. and birds cannot understand between fake and right sky. So they think it is real nature and try to fly right into.
Furthermore, the reading passage holds the view that designer of building can paint colorful lines on window glass. By this method, the occupied can see out and birds can understand this barrier. On the contrary, the professor dismisses this issue due to the fact that designer must make free space in their painting that people can see out. On the other hand, Birds think it is an open hole and fly right through them. For prevent this, the painting must be extremely small opening. But it change rooms to dark place and it is not suitable for people who live there.
Finally, the passage asserts that the buildings can use a magnetic field to lead birds and change their way from buildings. For birds have a compass ability and find their way by helping this sense. Conversely, the speaker underlines the fact that it is true that this ability can help them to navigate, but they just use it only in long distances. For example, when they want to migrate from cold country to warm country before winter, they use this ability as navigation. They utilize their eyes and light to find their ways in short distance such as fly one sides to other side of city. So this electromagnetic that produce signals to change a direction of birds won't have much effect.
