TPO 44 - Integrated Writing Task

In this set materials, the reading passage state that some Europen silver coins are discovered in the American. The reading passage claims that these coins are not real historical evidence. On the other hand, the listening section brings into question the reading points by providing different reasons (and examples).

First of all, the reading passage indicates that the coins are discovered a far way from the Norse's settlement; hence, they could not belong the Nors. In contrast, the lecturer opposes this view by mentioning that many other objects are discovered in this place and these objects are the historical evidence. Also, the Norse travelled to America and they bring these coins. In addition, we know that Native American people used to travel great distances and bring back materials they taught were interesting, so the coin might have been brought by them far distance.

Second, the reading argues that the archaeologist does not found coins in another place; conversely, what the lecturer believes is different. She points that when the Norse wanted to back Europe, the backed up many worth objects. Also, the chosen America as the second settlement. Hence, the return their money to America.

Finally, according to the reading the Norse people did not use a coin as Europe people. However the speaker claims that they did not have information about coins value, but they used coins for another action. They liked coins because these coins were the beautiful shape. Hence, they used a coin in many ways such as making neglects or jewellers. And it was interesting for them.
