You are going to another country to study. You would like to do a part-time job while you are studying, so you want to ask a friend who lives there for some help.
Write a letter to your friend. In your letter,
give details of your study plans
explain why you want to get a part-time job
suggest how your friend could help you find a job
Dear Mike,
How have you been? It has been a long time since we last met. I will be moving to Australia soon to pursue my master in business management at the University of Perth. It will be the beginning of a new journey in my life to live and study in a foreign country. I feel so relieved that at least you are there to help and guide me.
The university allows me to work part-time for 20 hours a week. I believe it is a great idea to work in a retail outlet so that I can earn some extra bucks to support myself while I am here in Australia. Secondly, it will enable me to take off the extra burden from my parents as I will be contributing to my course fee and thirdly I will also get exposure to the working culture which can help me in future job prospects.
The last time we spoke I remember that you worked in a retail giant Walmart as a general manager. I am sure you will have a lot of contacts there. I would really appreciate if you could recommend me in one of Walmarts retail outlets so that I can work there as a part-timer.
I look forward to your reply and seeing you soon.
warm wishes
vinshu
