Cinema attendance by age group in Great Britain.
The line graph compares the percentages of cinema-going people in 4 different age groups in Great Britain between 1984 and 2000.
It is clear that the rate of people attending cinema in 15-24 age group was by far highest during the period research. Additionally, the figures for other groups also experienced significant increases.
In 1984, 15 to 24-year-old attendees going to the cinema was highest, around 18%, while the figure of people aged 7-14 made up only 10%. Meanwhile, the proportion of cinema-goers in 25 and over visiting cinema made up nearly 5%, compared to just about 2% of cinema attendees who were 35 and over.
In 2000, there was a dramatic increase in 15-24 age group of cinema-attendees to approximately 55% and remained the highest point, whereas the figure for people aged 35 and over rose gradually to around 15%. At the same time, there was a gradual rise in the percentages of the remaining two groups rose to 30%, which was at the same level.
