The passage and the lecture discuss the proposed ways to protect the forests from p.ramorum threaten. The reading suggests three ways to fight this disease. Whereas the lecturer disagrees with all of them and explains her reasons.
First, the passage claims by removing human effects like washing shoes and installing new scrubbers on their bicycles, we can stop P.ramorum spores from spreading. However, the professor in the lecture argues against this method and added that human activities such as the aforementioned reasons are not a huge impact on spreading spores. She believes the main way of spreading spores is rainwater and water streams that carry spores long distances.
Second, the reading believes we can protect trees by a few fungicidal chemicals. However, the lecturer, refute this way completely. She believes although fungicidal chemicals can defend trees, their protection duration is so short and it is appropriate when the number of trees is very few not a jungle of trees. Indeed, using this method for a jungle is so expensive and impossible.
Finally, the reading suggests a method that is called clear-cutting which is about cutting and burning diseased trees. However, the lecturer disagrees with this idea because healthy vegetation is removing too by using this way. She mentions although it seems true to sacrifice some vegetation to protect the whole of them and they can go back easily, they are rare vegetation that removing them will be a larger disease.
Although the reading suggests three ways to protect oak trees against this disease, the lecture believes none of them is suitable because of the aforementioned reasons.
