Sodium, saturated fat and added sugar are some of the nutrients which can't be excluded from our daily meals, yet if either one of those is consumed too much, you may be putting yourself in some unhealthy consequences. The 3 provided pie charts illustrate the average consumption of these nutrients in typical meals.
Overall, the least proportions in all the charts belong to the first meal of the day, breakfast, while dinner holds the biggest segments in consumed sodium and saturated fat, and the last chart, added sugar, is dominated by snacks.
First of all, we can see that the numbers and colors in the sodium and fat charts seem to be slightly equally distributed, with the biggest pieces in both belong to dinner, the last main meal of the day (about 40%), and the smallest ones are of breakfast. In these 2 charts, snacks seem to only account for the second smallest segments, with only 14% in sodium and 21% in fat. And the last portions belong to the second daily main meal, lunch, with approximately holds about a quarter of the pies.
The situation is quite different in the last pie. People in the USA seem to enjoy some sugar in their snacks more than the other meals with the percentage of 42 %, which is almost double those of dinner (23%) and lunch (19%). On the other hand, break fast is once again the smallest piece in this pie chart, with slightly more than a third of sugar (16% and 42% respectively).
