The given diagrams depict the procedure of collecting water by two methods for irrigation purposes.
The first method is the swing basket, which uses human power. First, we need to have a well near the field that is about one to two meters deep, and we need a basket made of bamboo or leather to hold water. This method uses human power so that we need two people, and water is filled in the basket after it is taken from the well by two people with two ropes. And then water is poured into an irrigation channel to fields.
The second method is rope and bucket used by a cow that is stronger than humans. Because of using animals' power, a well is deeper than using human power, about 50 meters. This method includes a pulley, rollers and a bucket.
First, the cow stands on the top of the slope to collect water, then it walks downhill and the bucket is risen from the well. After that, water is poured into irrigation channels.
Overall, the two methods are easy to carry out. However, it relies on different depths and farmers’ economic conditions.
