The graph below shows the number of inquiries received by the Tourist Information Office in one city over a six-month period in 2011.
The line graph compares the number of inquiries that one particular Tourist Information Office was asked by three different means over a course of six months, starting from January 2011.
Overall, it is evident that the quantities of questions received through either direct communication or telephone increased significantly throughout the reviewed period, whereas the opposite was true for mailing platforms. Moreover, it is clear that tourists preferred to ask questions in person most in the end, despite this was the least chosen method in January.
In January, around 900 inquiries came up in telephone conversation, relatively higher than the two other channels. This figure almost quadrupled in June, reaching a high of 1600 questions, despite a slight decrease in February. The number of questions received face-to-face was the lowest in January, with roughly 400 questions asked. However, in the next six months, it experienced a tremendous growth of nearly 5 times up until June, surpassing telephone figures in the middle of the year, and ending the period at 1900 questions, making direct communication the most common ways to ask questions.
Conversely, the preference for letter/ mail platforms weakened over the timeframe, as numbers dropping steadily from 800 to only 400 questions in June, a drop by half of its starting figure.
