Many scientists believe it would be possible to maintain a permanent human presence on Mars or the Moon. On the other hand, conditions on Venus are so extreme and inhospitable that maintaining a human presence there would be impossible.
The article states that some of the scientists believe it's possible for a human to survive on Mars or the Moon but Venus has not a suitable condition for lives and it is inhospitable so human presence there probably impossible, however, the professor refutes each of the author's ideas.
First, the reading claims that at Venus' surface atmospheric pressure is much greater than the pressure at Earth's surface so it crushed everything, and humans cant land on it. The professor refutes this point by saying that, 50 km up in the atmosphere is equal to the normal pressure human beings are used to on Earth, Therefore, there would be no danger of the station getting crushed.
Second, the article posits that evidence shows that there are no water and oxygen available on Venus' surface. However, the professor says that water and oxygen can be produced through a chemical process and as we know there are carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid in Venus's atmosphere. As a result, there is no need to import water and oxygen that are essential for human survival.
Finally, the reading passage claims that only a little sunlight could reach Venus's surface and 60% of the sunlight is blocked out or reflected. The professor opposes this point by explaining that the clouds are not very thick and the sunlight is still abundant 50 kilometers above the surface. Humans can aggregate the filtered and reflected sunlight to generate enough electricity to power up the station.
