You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.
Modern technology has made it easier for individuals to download copyrighted music and books from the internet for no charge.
To what extent is this a positive or a negative development?
You should write at least 254 words.
It is undoubted that the internet has made everything accesible for us. In modern age, downloading any item from the internet has become effortless. Moreover, there are many websites that do not require any payment for downloading. Although the uncharged downloading is quite popular among the consumers, it has some devastating effect on real world.
There are plenty of websites that do not own the copyright of the items like books, pictures or songs, they give access to their users. The act of selling or giving access to products without the permisssion of the owner is known as piracy which is considered illigal all around the globe and in some countries, it is considered as a criminal activity. So, if someone is caught with pirated products, they will have to pay a penalty or spend time in jail.
The websites with "no charge policy" generally has some hidden agenda and often time maintained by hackers. If someone visits a website to download a song, they inadvertedly gives hackers access to their devices and then the hackers can collect all the information from the devices and misuse the information. Futhermore, the websites are often bombared with false advertises which is also a part of the hackers' scheme. In addition, along with the desired product, the consumer often download computer viruses which can wipe out the entire data on his device.
On the contrary, copyright of books or academic papers are frowned upon by many in the society. Copyrighting educational materials make them unaccesible to the students and deprive of them from the right of knowledge. As a result, the russiuns have developed a website called "Sci-hub" which allows students to download any paper from any country costless and do not cause any trouble for the user as well.
In conclusion, copyrighting is necessary to give credit to the owner but it is not a desireable trait in many cases. SO, government should take the issue more seriosly and ban any website that has harmful potential.
