The bar chart depicts the percentage of weekly salary which is spent in distinct categories by families in the period from 1968 to 2018.
Overall, it can be observed initially that Food was likely to be spent the most in 1968, compared to other purposes. However, the result seemed different when it came to in 2018 when leisure was the category which had been spent predominately of all other categories.
It was immediately apparented that by 1968, food was reached a peak of the chart, with about 35%, while the figure for fuel and power was registered at the lowest rate, with just around 7%. Families also prefered invest their income earned in a week to housing with the proportion of 10% which was exceeded personal goods and transport by 3%, at 7% of the figures. Household goods and personal goods were spent equally at 7% of the total weekly income.
On the other hand, in the period of the time by 2018, the data of leisure activity was the highest, about 23% of the salary. Moreover, leisure activity also exceeded food category by 6% with respective figures being to 23% and 17%. Fuel and power was asserted to be the lowest figure, with just around 4%, and the same figure for personal goods was recorded in 2018.
