The chart shows the proportion of people in a UK survey carried out in three different years who said they were interested in certain sports.
The chart compares a survey carried out in the UK in three distinct years in terms of 6 types of sports that local residents indulged in.
It is clear from the chart that most of UK’s inhabitants were more interested in football compared to other sports. Additionally, an upward trend was recorded in all categories except the figure for tennis.
In 1995, the proportion of individuals fond of football constituted about 40% of the total, compared to approximately 35% of people keen on rugby. Meanwhile, there were over 30% and nearly 30% of citizens loving tennis and swimming in turn. Likewise, the rate of volleyball stood at around 28%, which outnumbered that of golf by two to one, at 17%. To 2000, all the figures in the chart underwent steady growths, while that of tennis shared an opposite trend.
In 2005, the share of football dropped slowly to nearly 40% and remained the most popular type of sport among inhabitants. At the same time, this nation witnessed an insignificant rise to over 35% in the share of rugby, whereas the percentages of swimming and volleyball were matched with a roughly similar trend to the point, at which they shared a comparable figure, at exactly 35%. Conversely, a gradual decline to 30% was recorded in the proportion of tennis, followed by a steady increase to about 20% in that of golf.
