The graph compares the number of shop closures and openings in the period seven-year from 2011 to 2018.
It is clear that there are significant changes in the mentioned period. While the number of shops that opened decreased considerably, the number of shops that closed remained relatively.
In 2011, the shops that were established and closed were 8500 and 6200 shops respectively. After the following seven years, the number of shop openings fell dramatically to 3000 shops, while the figure for shop closures is slight over 5000. Despite of relatively even distribution in the end of period, a considerable decrease can be seen in 2015, when the number of shops that closed stood at just about 800 shops.
After a sharp fall in 2012, the new shops that are registered have been rising in the next two years, before dropping at 4000 shops. Between 2015 and 2018, the figure remained relatively stable to the end of the period.
In conclusion, the number of shop openings was more stable than the number of shop closures.
