The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development.
The picture illustrates how Islip town centre is structured now and plans for its change in the future.
Overall, it is clear that Islip will become much more modern town, with far more housing and transport facilities.
One intersting development is that a dual carriageway will be constructed, which emcompass almost the entire of town centre. Several shops near countryside will be converted to a shopping centre, bus station and car park. Another notable change is that the old main road will be used for pedetrians only in the fufure.
If we look at the park area, there is a large one now in the South-east of the town centre; however it will be minimized in size in the planned development. This town is also planned to expand the number of housing area, with one new area will be near the park and the other new one will be near the car park which can go directly form the dual carriageway.
