• Task 1: The charts below show the performance of a bus company in terms of punctuality, both actual and target (what actually happened compared to what the company was trying to achieve), and the number of complaints from passengers.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisions where relevant.
The charts show the actual and target percentage of services arriving on time and the number of complaints from passengers from 1999 to 2003.
Overall, while the target proportion showed a downward trend, the actual figure witnessed some fluctuations. In addition, passengers complained more about buses over 5 years.
It is substantial that the bus company aimed 86 percent of buses arriving on time in 1999 and 2000 before slightly decreasing that to 84 percent in 2003. However, in 1999, 85% of buses were punctual and its figure showed a significant fall of 3 percent in the next year, less than 4% to the target number. After that, the number was stable at 84% in 2001, 2002 and then rebacked to 85% in 2003, 1% higher than the aimed percentage.
Regarding the second chart, about 70 complaints per thousand passenger journeys were recorded in 1999 and then it rose to 100 in 2000. After declining by 20 complaints in 2001, the figure recovered to 100 complaints in the next year and finished at 120 percent in 2003.
