The given pie charts illustrate the proportion of the world’s forest and timber in each area.
Looking from an overall perspective, most of world’s forest are located in Africa and North America, followed by Europe, South Africa and lastly Asia. By contrast, Africa accounts for the least percentage of timber compared to North Africa with the highest figure of timber.
Regarding the percentage of world’s forest, South Africa is a country with the highest proportion of world’s forest of five continents with the figure being 27% as opposed to Asia which makes up only 14% of the total, followed by North America which occupies one quarter of the total. Meanwhile, South Africa and Europe account for 18% and 16% respectively.
In terms of the percentage of timber in each continent, the figure for timber in North America is 30% which is nearly triple the proportion of timber in Africa. The percentage of timber in South Africa and Europe is slightly high with figure being 23% for the former and 20% for the latter and Asia accounts for 18% of the total.
