The graph below gives information about the percentage of people living in Australia who were born in Asia, the UK, and other regions.
The presented line chart illustrates the percentage of Australians born in different parts of the world from 1976 to 2011. The initial impression from the graph is that the figures for Asia and other regions witnessed upward trends over the given period while that for the UK experienced a decline. Moreover, the total population saw a small decrease in the first 25 years before recovering rapidly in the final ten years.
The percentage of Australians born in the UK stayed well-beyond the others at nearly 14% in 1976. Following that was the other regions with about 11 per cent, and the data of Asia was under-neath at just above 2.5%. Over 35 years, while fewer Australians came from the UK with its figure dropping to 5% in 2011, more Australians from Asia live in Australia with its data climbing up to 15%. Regarding the figure for other regions, it bottomed out at nearly 7.5% in 1986 before peaking at approximately 15%in 2006 but later dipping slightly at around 13% in 2011. In terms of the total population, it experienced a gradual drop from 22.5% in 1976 to its all-time low of about 20% in 2001, then another leap from 2001 to 2011 at 25%.
