You have a Facebook friend living in another country and s/he is curious to learn about a major news item in your country.
Write a letter to your Facebook friend. In your letter
describe a news story in your country
explain why people are interested in it
say how the story personally relates to you
You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear ...,
You should write at least 150 words.
Dear Nikita,
I'm so happy to hear from you other than Facebook platform. I read about the news that you mentioned in your letter.
I quickly turned on the news channel on my television set after reading your letter and was taken aback by this tragic incident. The anchor described that Nirbhaya (victim) was heading alone from college to her hostel. This poor girl was kidnapped by a group of men who later raped her aggressively. This was shocking to me as I live in the same country.
This news has now spread like a wild-fire because the victim is currently in the hospital who is barely surviving. The public are interested to know whether she will be able to make or not. Also, most of us are keen to know when will the police arrest the offenders?
This article has particularly affected me a lot. As you know, I live in a hostel and travel late hours after finishing my shift. I feel daunted travelling alone because I feel very unsafe now. I wish the government provides special facilities to females like us so that we are free to move around the city at any hour.
I advise you to keep a pepper spray with you and be safe.
Warmest regards,
Pallavi
