The graph below shows the changing patterns of access to modern technology in homes in the UK.

The graph provides information about the accessibility of UK citizens to four types of modern technologies from the year 1994 to 2008, measured by percentage.

Both CD player and mobile phone followed a marginal upward trend. The former showed up in the UK earlier with around 43% in 1994/95 then it slowly raised and ended up at about 82% by the year 2008. Likewise, the latter, which was first accessed about 2 years later with approximately 10%, steadily increased and hit its peak at around 62% in the final year.

Regarding the DVD player figure, it underwent a wild fluctuation but with an upward trend. In 1996/97 the proportion was just under 20% then reached its peak at 78% by 2002/03 and 2008. The internet connection was the most noticeable. As the latest technology accessed in the UK, its proportion went up dramatically from about 25% to 80% between the year 2002 and 2004/05. From this point, the figure slowed down and winded up at around 82% in 2008, where it exceeded the CD player figure.

Overall, UK households, on average, by 2008 can access more than 60% to four types of technologies with the most outstanding was the internet connection.
