The line graph illustrates how the amount of shop closures and openings in a country changed over a period of 7 years, from 2011 to 2018.

In general, what stands out from the graph is that the number of shops that closed reached the lowest quantity in 2015. Meanwhile, the amount of shop openings registered the highest one in 2011.

By 2012, the number of the shop openings had experienced a significant decrease of almost two times while the figure for the shop closures slightly decreased by 500 ones.  However, 2014 witnessed a gradual increase to more 6000 new shops that opened whereas the number of shops that forced to stop the business had increased gently to about 7000 shops in 2013 before the figure for that declined by 500 shops in 2014.

In the meantime, after falling down to 4000 shops, the figure for shop openings remained stable in 2016. In 2018, the number of shops that closed stayed remained at around 5000, compared with only 3000 shops which were new to open in the country.
