Overall, Edo-Tokyo was the most well-known museum, but its popularity was surpassed by National museum in China. Furthermore, all figures experienced an upward trend year-to-year, except that for Edo museum.
Initially, Edo museum in Tokyo was the most popular place, showing the highest annual number in almost 14 million, while MET one in New York was lower number, with a gap of about 2 million. When it comes to National one in China, its number of attendees accounted for the smallest, a half of the counterpart situated in the USA.
Eventually, the vast majority of Chinese attending National museum increased dramatically to more than twofolds, at 16 million, being the maximum data recorded. Although American attending MET museum inclined to slightly over 14 million, it had hit the lowest point by 2003 at around 8 million.
