The graph illustrates the rate of women's membership of parliament in 5 different European countries( Belgium, Spain, Germany, UK, Italy) between 2000 and 2012.

Overall, it is obvious that while the percentage of German and British women's membership slightly changed over the periods, the rate in Belgium and Italy had significant upward trends.

According to the statistics, in 2004, the number of women in the three European countries' (Italy, Britain, Germany) parliaments was about 3%, 18% and 32% respectively while the rest of regions (Belgium and Spain) had sharp increases from around 23% and 29% to 35% and above.Furthermore, Belgium remained unchanged till the end of the given period.

Looking at the details, in 2008, Italy experienced a dramatic growth of nearly 20% in the meantime Spain showed a similar trend (35%) as Belgium and stayed without progresses over the periods. While Germany was still constant (above 30%), the rate of female members in parliament went up to 20% in the UK.In the following year, the Britain and Italy made up a similar amount ( around 23%) meanwhile Belgium reached at a peak of nearly 40%.
