Essay topics:

The percentage of men and women aged 60-64 who were employed in 4 countries in 1970 and 2000.

A glance at the bar charts reveals the portions of employees from 60 to 64 years old of both genders in Belgium, The USA, Japan and Indonesia in a 30-year period, starting from 1970.

In general, it is obvious that the figures of men over 60 years old in four different regions were dominant, while together with female, they made up the largest proportion in The USA.

As can be seen from the first survey, in The USA and Indonesia, having reached its highest figure of approximately 85%, men became the most significant labour workforce while Belgium and Japan experienced considerable proportions of under 80%. However, only after registering a similar figure to Belgium were female employees in The USA considered as a lion’s share, while others witnessed an ample of under 65%, especially the Japanese women occupying just over 55%.

On the other hand, after a period of 30 years, although American men saw a slight fall by 5%, it was still the hugest portion of all the second survey. Meanwhile, there was a significant drop in all regions from 10% to 15%. A downward trend also affected the women labourer by its tremendous decrease in roughly 50% in all countries, except Belgium registering the smallest portion of just nearly 10%.
