The table below gives information about languages with the most native speakers.

The table depicts data of the number of native speakers of six different languages as well as the number of speakers of these languages as an extra language.

Overall, it is noticeable that the number of mandarin Chinese speakers is strikingly higher than the other languages. Furthermore, what is remarkable about english speaking people is that there are more non-native speakers than native english speakers (603 million and 339 million).

As the table illustrates out of 1,090 million speakers of mandarin chinese, there are 900 million native speakers and 190 million speakers who speak mandarin as an additional language. Contrasting to this, in the english language, the number of speakers who speak english as an additional language is 603 million, which is extremely higher than english native speakers, which are 339 million.

While the total number of Spanish speakers (420 million) is roughly equal to hindi speakers (490 million); when it comes to speaking these languages as an additional language the number of hindi speakers is higher than that of Spanish.

native speakers of arabic and portuguese are almost similar in number with 200 million and 203 million respectively. However, the number of arabic speakers as an additional language is almost 2.5 times higher than speakers of portuguese as an additional language.
