Computers are often argued to be the most important invention of the last hundred years. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
As technology progresses, life will be easier thanks to its advancement. In the period of one century, a myriad of inventions and new gadgets have been introduced to the public namely the personal phones, television, to name but a few. Among them, I believe computers have been reshaping the world and therefore, it is no doubt it should be considered as the most crucial innovation in the last hundreds of years.
Since the presence of computers, it creates a significant improvement in all aspects of life. To be more specific, it demystifies communication between humans with humans. Before the age of the computer, people need to write a letter and send it to the recipients, which will take months to reach them and months for the sender to receive the feedback. However, that is no longer the case, given the fact that we only spend less than ten minutes to send an email and receive immediate replies from others. Moreover, the power of computers is incredibly phenomenal, we can upload almost all the knowledge of human beings into a quantum computer. And it will stay there forever unless someone decides to take them out. Last but not least, personal computers make all the offices and workplaces become an unnecessity and therefore, reduce the costs for company spending on those offices. For example, in 2020 we have witnessed an unprecedented situation and the world: the corona pandemic. It erodes a majority of the world ranging from economics to people's health and we also have seen a marvellous change in the way people do their work. Most of the workers need to work from home and some companies have taken the initiative in reducing the number of officers working at the buildings.
From all of the examples I have provided above, it is clear that the computer is really the most influential invention in the last then decades. The potential of computers is unlimited and I believe we will be using them in several fields for at least until the next decades.
