In their advertising, businesses nowadays usually emphasize that their products are new in some way. Why is this? Do you think it is a positive or negative development?
In this day and age, advertising that has flooded our lives has become a powerful tool. While I do not deny that the proliferation of advertising contributes to the increase in sales of commodities, I would also argue that advertising truly responds to consumers needs.
On the one hand, advertising has a considerable effect on customer purchase behavior in various ways. To begin with, businesses and brands tend to exaggerate and enhance the appearance of their products in their advertisements to attract more customers. For instance, most brands of instant noodles often show bowls of delicious noodles full of seafood or meat, making their goods more attractive. Additionally, advertising from brands of fashionable and luxurious items creates trends, especially on social media, prompting people to buy their products to prove that they keep up with with the newest trends . For example, every year people often choose to buy the latest smartphone model to replace their current ones which still function well.
On the other hand, I believe that the increase in product sales is primarily based on customers demands, not solely on advertising. Firstly, because there are useful and necessary goods for daily life, people are willing to pay for them without much advertising, such as basic hygiene products and food. These essential items are often purchased out of necessity, regardless of promotional efforts- repeat idea. Also, thanks to the development of the Internet, people can easily look for information and consider it before making a decision to buy any product. Online reviews, product comparisons, and detailed specifications allow consumers to make informed choices independently of advertisements.
In conclusion, although advertising has a profound impact on consumer decision-making, I believe that people are ultimately capable of buying suitable products due to the information provided by advertising. It is essential to recognize that while ads influence consumer behavior, the final purchasing decision is often guided by individual needs and thorough research.
