The three pie charts below show the changes in annual spending by a particular UK school in 1981, 1991 and 2001.
The three pie charts illustrate how much a specific UK school cost in 1981, 1991 and 2001.
According to the three charts, it is clearly to see that the total school spending was made up of 5 parts. Obviously, the maximum proportion of total school spending was teacher’s salaries. Although there was a decrease between 1991 and 2001, the percentage of teacher’ salaries still grew from 40% to 45%. Different from the changes of staff’s salaries, the percentage of furniture and equipment spending increase sharply in 2001 after a fall from 15% to 5%, despite of that, the year 2001 still saw a growth with 8%。 We can also see that the proportion of insurance cost, which was still the smallest part of the total spending, went up marginally from 2% in 1981 to 8% in 2001.
On the contrary, there was a noticeable decline in the cost of other workers’ salaries, which was from 28% to 15%. The charges of resources spending was totally the same as that of other workers’ salaries spending, while the proportion of resources cost first grew up from 15% in 1981 to 20% in 1991, and then fell down to 9% in 2001.
Overall, the spending of insurance was the smallest part of cost to the school, though there was a slightly increase. In contrast, the cost of teachers’ salaries still the biggest part of total school spending.
