The pie charts show the percentage of people at different ages in Yemen and Italy and make predictions for 2050.
It is noticeable that in 2050, both cities will see rises in the percentage of old people who are more than sixty years old. Also young people who are under fourteen years old will become fewer.
In 2000, nearly half of the population in Yemen were under fourteen years old, while the equivalent figure for Italy was 14.3%. Fifty years later, people under 14 will account for 37% and 11.5% of the whole population in Yemen and Italy respectively.
46% of people were between 15 and 59 in Yemen, which was double the percentage in the same age group in Italy. 2050 will see a rise in the 15 to 59-year-old group to 57.4% in Yemen, and by contrast the figure in Italy will decline to 11.5%. In both years, people who are over sixty only account for a small percentage in Yemen. However, in Italy, the proportion of over 60-year-old people will increase from 24.1% to 42.3%
