Summary
The main idea of both reading and lecture is about one of the famous animal that calls Pterosaurs were an ancient group of winged reptiles that live alongside the dinosaurs. With this mind, the author points out that several arguments have been made to oppose their power flight and these animals could not able to fly. The lecture refutes this claim, casting doubt on every single point made by the author.
First, Pterosaur were kinds of Cool-blood animal and this animal have a slow metabolism. Thus, they were unable to produce enough energy for the fly. On the other hand, the professor brings up the idea that based on the recent research Pterosaurs capable of flight. According to the fossils, which remain of the animals they had warm-blooded and this type of metabolism was able to go faster and produce enough energy.
Second, the reading asserts that there is a limit to the weight of animals that can be kept airborne by powered flight. In contrast, the speaker underlines the idea that Pterosaurs had special kind of solid bone and this situation provided them to able to fly.
Finally, the reading passage argues that all animals with powered flight are able to take off from the ground. For instance, birds can take off with jumping by their legs but Pterosaur unable to flight by their legs. Conversely, the speaker dismisses the idea due to the fact that modern animals like Pterosaurs able to flight by push up body from the ground rather than their back.
