There is a public park near where you live. You have heard that the local council wants to sell this park.
Write a letter to a local newspaper. In your letter:
• introduce yourself
• describe the importance of the park
say what action you will take if the council continues with its plan
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing on behalf of all the residents of Fairview colony about city park council’s recent decision to sell City Park to a local construction company to build a shopping complex.
Let me introduce myself, my name is Alex Barns and I have been living in the Fairview Colony for almost 8 years. I moved into this locality because of its serenity and calmness. By profession, I am an environmental scientist working for Mississauga Research Centre.
This park has a great amount of significance in my and other residents’ lives. People, including myself, come to the park to spend some time near mother nature; performing activities such as Yoga, jogging and running. As you are selling this place, these residents would be deprived of a place to relax as well as rejuvenate themselves. Such a decision will bring a detrimental affect people’s mental and physical health.
If the park council is reluctant to reconsider their decision, we all will protest against it. In addition, we might consider bringing this scenario to the court that would harm your reputation, which is something you do not want to happen.
I request you once again to change your present decision, or it is going to arouse a feeling of resentment and remorse among society members.
Yours faithfully,
Alex Barns
